THE GREATER WASHINGTON URBAN LEAGUE, INC. (GWUL) PARTNERS WITH WB50 FOR ITS 6th ANNUAL CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

OMAROSA OF THE APPRENTICE will be the Honorary Celebrity Chair

of this year’s GWUL Golf Tournament

WHO: Tournament Co-Chairs are Cynthia Smith, vice president of human resources for Lockheed Martin, and Fred Valentine, retired executive for Clark Construction Company. Vice Co-Chairs are Judy Holland-Burton, senior vice president of community relations for Washington Sports and Entertainment, and Bryant Robinson, partner for McGuire Woods LLP.

Special Celebrity Guests include Omarosa (The Apprentice), Jay ‘SKY’ Walker (Formerly of the New England Patriots & Minnesota Vikings), John Booty (Formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles & NY Giants), Lou Holder (Fox 5 News Sports Anchor) and more.

WHAT: The Greater Washington Urban League, Inc. 6th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament

Highlights of the tournament include great door prizes and the Sam Lacy Awards Banquet featuring a live auction. The late legendary Sam Lacy was a sportswriter for Afro-American Newspapers and inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. This year’s recipient of the Sam Lacy Award at the banquet is retired journalist Moses Newson from Afro-American Newspapers, co-author of Fighting for Fairness: The Life Story of Hall of Fame Sportswriter Sam Lacy.

WHY: Now in its 66th year, the Greater Washington Urban League continues to provide a wide range of services including education, employment and training; aging and health; and housing and community development that serve more than 65,000 persons each year. Through the League’s partnership with the WB50 Family Fund, the League will be able to leverage contributions to the Golf Tournament through a significant percentage match provided by the McCormick Tribune Foundation. The WB50 Family Fund supports nonprofit agencies such as the Greater Washington Urban League, that will have a long-term positive impact on children and youth in the Washington metropolitan area.
